The best time to visit Ölüdeniz — for the beach and for flying

A pilot's-eye view over the Ölüdeniz coastline

Ölüdeniz has two calendars that overlap almost perfectly: the beach season and the flying season, both running roughly April to October. Here is the month-by-month picture, so you can pick the timing that fits what you want from the trip.

April–May: the quiet opening

The sea is still cool but swimmable by late May; the hills are green, prices are gentler and the beach is uncrowded. Flying begins in earnest, with conditions that vary more day to day — build a spare day into your plans.

June–August: full season

Hot, busy and reliable. The sea is at its warmest, boats run everywhere, and flying hours are at their longest — though launch and beach both get crowded, so book flights and rooms ahead. On the beach, mornings and late afternoons beat midday.

September–October: the connoisseur's window

Many regulars call this the best of both calendars: the sea keeps its summer warmth well into October, crowds thin out, and flying conditions are steady and smooth. If your dates are flexible, aim here.

Winter

The resort quiets down substantially. Flying happens only on suitable days that cannot be predicted in advance, and many businesses close — a peaceful time for walkers on the Lycian Way rather than beach holidays.

Matching the day to the flight

Whatever month you choose, the daily rhythm matters too: mornings are usually calmer in the air, afternoons livelier. The full picture of how weather decides the flight is on our weather page, and when your dates are set, send a booking request.
